Start a Surplus, Liquidation and Closeout Business

Start a Surplus, Liquidation and Closeout Business

Surplus inventory business opportunity is so large it could be almost anything. Husband and wife team could even sell different surplus or liquidation merchandise. We can point you in the right direction but the one thing we can not do is give you the desire and motivation. It is critical for that reason to pick an area to specialize in that is interesting to you. Start small part time selling on eBay and grow at your own pace. Do not quit your job. eBay solves the number one reason for business failure lack of customers or sales.

When you are ready to make tour first purchase visit the facility and personally inspect the merchandise before purchasing anything. Also start with no larger than a pallet on your first purchase. NEVER purchase a truck load on your first several purchases. Salvage is another name for junk you will not be in business long if you do not inspect your loads prior to buying. Always ask what percentage of the load is throw away. Do Not buy blind purchases

Start buy taking merchandise to flea markets to keep the inventory turning and cash flow moving it will also help pay the bills when first starting out. Inventory that couldn't be sold should be taken to local auctions for disposition, merchandise sitting on shelves is taking up valuable space that could be better used on new inventory that will sell.

Stay extremely focused don't get side tracked into non money making time consuming projects, keep it simple. Finding liquidation merchandise is the easy part. Developing buyers for the merchandise will consume most of your time.

So who are the primary buyers of surplus, liquidation and closeout merchandise? They are independent retail stores with fewer than 5 locations. They will need small minimum order requirements that large manufacturers will not want to deal with. Never forget this is your niche market focus on it.

E-Lab and E-Diagnostics Would Be New Innovative Methods in Cloud Computing Technology

E-Lab and E-Diagnostics Would Be New Innovative Methods in Cloud Computing Technology

By the time you read through this article, a new Cloud Computing protocol would be born.

Cloud computing is a complex system of data compilation, processing and storage which allows the end-user to easily access information without knowing the physical location of the service provider or configuration of the computer system. The cloud computing set-up along with online Voice and Video streaming facilities are veritable tools that make the birth of e-lab and e-diagnostics protocols the next frontier of internet development.

Here is an interesting snippet on the future of cloud computing.

Firstly, let's define e-lab. It means an electronic laboratory that operates via the World Wide Web.

Presently, a typical laboratory consists of a room or building where scientific equipment or chemicals are kept. Within the confines of the laboratory, scientists conduct tests, teach or perform experiments and treat illnesses.

The constant use of equipment and chemicals by scientists necessitate costly purchase, transportation and maintenance in order to provide fast-track, competitive and cutting edge services to health-care professionals, scientists, end-users and beneficiaries.

Therefore, there is an urgent need to make laboratory more cost effective by developing the e-lab.

To measure soil acidity for instance, a pH meter is required. The price of this device ranges in tens of dollars. However, rather than purchasing a pH meter, a less costly e-lab biotechnology electrode would be provided to the end-user. When this device is immersed in a solution, it would measure the pH as encrypted information through a microprocessor in any portable computerized device, e.g. cell-phone or laptop. The digital information could then be uploaded onto the internet where the encrypted information would be processed by the e-lab service provider into a visually readable pH data. A disposable or re-usable bio-tech pH electrode might be provided.

The above-mentioned internet compatibility would be ideal for certain scientific tests such as screening of blood fluid components, eye defects, enzyme activity, optical, sonic and temperature measurements.

Secondly, e-diagnostics could be defined as the use of the internet as a source for processing digital diagnostic information by cloud computing.

This innovative technique could be illustrated by re-inventing cutting edge medical equipment such as the CT-Scan or X-ray computed Tomography device which requires a heavy purchase, maintenance and overhead cost.

CT-Scan is used as a veritable tool for prevention-cum-screening of cancers, heart and bone diseases. it is a necessity in any modern hospital setting.

Although the usage of the CT-Scan has increased exponentially over the last three decades in many countries, its use is still highly restricted to affluent neighborhoods and nations.

However, with the coming of e-diagnostics, this expensive machine would be separated into two parts. The first part or 'in-house component' would contain the X-ray Tomography reader-cum-data-collector.

An 'e-diagnostics-cloud-computing component' which would be controlled by the service provider would be the second part. In this device, the data uploaded from the CT-Scan would be sent through the internet to the network of the service provider where it would be processed for billing, 3-D display of various bodily structures and other user-friendly features.

Separation of the CT-Scan's mainframe from the data processing unit would allow service providers to Charge low rates for each data processed through their cloud computing networks.

Therefore, scientists who study biological and paleontological specimen at remote locations around the globe would be saved the hassle of having to purchase, maintain or Move a large and expensive CT-Scan about. All they would require would be a cheaper and Lighter 'in-house component' that coverts tomography readings of human structures into encrypted digital information. Such digitized data could be sent electronically through the internet to the service provider who in turn uses his e-diagnostics tools within seconds to send back printable pictures, videos or graphics from processed data.

Couldn't this technology be applied to other expensive scientific techno-behemoths? Of course, it's possible.

The advent of the e-lab's and e-diagnostics' protocol at a yet to be determined future date might bring succor to the countless number of people who are yet to benefit from the versatility of a much awaited but yet to be re-invented e-lab-CT-Scan or any other colossal scientific equipment.

Advantages of e-lab & e-diagnostics

• Less expensive and more Light-weight equipment.
• Lesser amount of chemicals required for tests.
• Simplified and reduced maintenance cost.
• Affordable screening procedure.
• Accessibility from remote locations.
• Easy equipment mobility.
• Convenient.
• User friendly.
• Revolutionize the field of bio-informatics and laboratory technology.
• Possibility of designing portable electronic devices that could serve as analytical and diagnostic tools.

Disadvantages of the proposal

• Hosts and service providers might have control over the medical records or research data of patients and scientists respectively.

• Health-care statistics or research data of developing countries may be monitored or tinkered with by web-hosts or service providers in the developed world.

• It may cause capital fLight and under-utilization of laboratory technicians in many parts of the world as many Do-It-Yourself screening and test kits become ubiquitous.

To allay the fears of governments, service providers and end-users, a new internet protocol might have to be drafted and endorsed by all member states of the United Nations.
Let the race of developing the e-lab & e-diagnostics program's application, platform, storage and infrastructure begin. Then servers and clients can enjoy a new era of the internet.

That's the future of cloud computing.

In conclusion, let's hope that this article would spur the world's cybernetics Movers and shakers to action.

Safe Pallet Racking - Is Your Pallet Racking Certified?

Safe Pallet Racking - Is Your Pallet Racking Certified?

The two most important questions you need to ask a yourself before you purchase your Warehouse Racking systems:

1. Does your pallet racking meet the Australian Standards?
2. Has your pallet racking been certified?

These are very good questions, because there is more to pallet racking than meets the eye.

Australian Standards
Australian Standards are established to protect consumers against cheap inferior products being made locally or imported and pallet racking is no exception. The Australian Standard defines the minimum requirements for the design, fabrication, and erection tolerances, test methods, operation, and maintenance of pallet racking. In regards to Pallet Racking you must ensure the product has been tested and rated in accordance with Australian Standard AS4084-1993. A lot of importers fall into the trap of claiming that their pallet racking is certified by their supplier when in fact they need to hold the certificate themselves. The danger is that quite often the testing has been done by the supplier overseas and not done by a certified Australian testing facility. The danger therefore is that they may have tested only tested part of their range and subsequently the Racking you but will not meet those standards.

Certified
On the other hand ensuring the racking has been locally certified will give you and your employees a complete level of security as not only is every component tested but given a load rating as well. The largest testing facility in Australia is the Monash University and they will give the product what's called

EVALUATION OF ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF PALLET RACKING COMPONENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS 4084-1993

Some of the Certification tests that are performed by the Monash University include...

Stub column tests
To determine the form factor (Q) of the perforated rack columns in accordance with AS 4084-1993, Clause 8.2 for the 90x70x1.8mm upright columns.

Pallet beam tests
To determine the bending pallet beam properties in accordance with AS4084-1993, Clause 8.3.1 for the 100x45x1.5 pallet beam section.

Pallet beam to column connection tests
To determine the connection moment, in accordance with AS4084-1993, Clause 8.4.1. "Cantilever test", for the 90x70 column in combination of 100x45 beams.

Portal connection tests
This test shall be used to obtain a joint spring constant needed for semi rigid frame analysis, in accordance with AS4084-1993, Clause 8.4.2, "Portal test", for the same combination as in Section 1.4.

Coupon tensile tests
To determine the tensile yield strength of the material used in making the beam and column sections, the specimens were taken from the column and beam sections tested.

Acquiring a certificate protects everyone, from the importer, vendor and the customer who has an obligation to Supply a safe working environment. Today's Occupational Health and Safety laws are so stringent that you would be taking an enormous risk if you were to purchase new or second hand pallet racking for your business from a supplier unable to provide a certified product.

Therefore before selecting pallet racking for your business, you should ensure that you are getting a certified and therefore thoroughly tested product from your supplier.

Infant Allergies - How Much Is Too Much Sugar?

Infant Allergies - How Much Is Too Much Sugar?

Many people often ask is it possible to have a sugar allergy. They always remark it just seems as if their body is so sensitive to any excess consumption of sugar.

Common conflicting symptoms after eating too much sugar include:

stomachache or indigestion gas, abdominal cramps and diarrhea hyperactivity, anxiousness or even depression sluggish, bloated feeling with stiff joints and muscles

Now you must realize, this is the common symptoms in an adult or a grown child. We actually do have a matured digestive system which is supposed to be capable of breaking down the component parts of the foods we eat on a daily basis.

If we are having this kind of difficulty, just imagine what a newborn child or a very young child must be feeling like.

But I Don't Feed My Baby Sugar

I often get to hear this one. My answer though - "When's the last time you have read the ingredient label on your child's can or bottle of formula?" Or if you happen to be breastfeeding exclusively, "what's in your diet?"

Sugar is not just that white stuff which is on your table in a sugar bowl. Candy, cookies, crackers, bakery or bread products, dairy products and fruit juices or fruit beverages, dried fruits and some vegetables, desserts and snack foods. This list is just the tip of the food products we use on a daily basis that can have high sugar contents. All of these have either natural sugars or can be high in added sugars during manufacturing and processing.

Then there is the honey, molasses, powdered sugar and brown sugar. What about the fructose, sucrose, dextrose and all of these types which are added during manufacturing.

Then our regular foods such as condiments are often high in sugar. Ketchup, BBQ sauce and salad dressings are three perfect examples. If you put sweetener in your coffee, your cup of tea, have a soda, drink some fruit juice. All of these all have a lot of hidden sugar.

So if you happen to be breastfeeding and you are using these types of items on a daily basis, unfortunately your baby is too.

Then there is the other option. - baby's formula. Commonly, these formulas are for a newborn up to about two years of age. As a parent,we anticipate and expect a company to provide us with a product which is nutritionally sound for our baby's diet.

A recent survey of assorted formula varieties - just randomly pulled from the store's shelves, yielded some very surprising and disturbing results to the field of health care. Some of the major labeled companies, when their varieties were tested and the sugars were added up, greater than 50% of the formula was nothing but different types of sugar.

One variety, added to all these sugars was the ingredient soy protein isolate as itemized on the ingredient label. This ingredient tested out as a genetically modified form of soy. This formula also had an accumulation of soy oil itself in it as an ingredient. The soy oil tested out as a genetically modified version of soy plus it was a chemically altered extraction method used in processing which raises its toxicity level of chemicals unsafe for human consumption.

Then safflower oil was added which is very high in saturated fats (the bad kind) plus various other kinds of chemically altered vitamins and fillers were enclosed. The only actually good for you component in the entire formula was a small percentage of pure virgin coconut oil.

Check the front label on this package and it was labeled very predominantly on the front as a "complete nutritionally balanced meal for your child." How can any company believe this combination of ingredients is nutritionally balanced?

Even a person completely ignorant of diet and nutrition can tell with continued use this product is going to aggravate any possible infant allergies the child may have, is going to lead to obesity and a possible future diagnosis of diabetes.

All of this information is right on the ingredient label itself. You can never be too busy to take the few necessary minutes to read this label to guarantee your own baby's health.

Healthy Aging - How to Transform Your Body Into a Fat Burning Machine

Healthy Aging - How to Transform Your Body Into a Fat Burning Machine

Sadly to say that most people are misguided by the 'secret formula' in which it is usually hidden behind health scams and misinformation. The obesity spreads when the food products keep increasing in supermarket shelves. The problem is that we are depending on these foods at supermarkets based on its convenience and tastiness.

How do you get rid of this problem in order to maintain our health?

You can become fit as a fiddle when you start to practice healthy eating lifestyle. Basically, there are four components that will change your body into a fat burning machine.

The First Component: How Much to Eat?

You need to eat lots of the right foods to manipulate your homeostasis mechanism (or also known as negative feedback mechanism). Eating plenty of delicious food can assuage your hunger pangs. Therefore, you can eat it as many as you want.

The Second Component: How Often to Eat?

You will be surprised that eating six times per day able to prevent unstable blood sugar levels and prolonged periods of amino-acid deficiency. It is able to stabilized blood sugar level and it lowers the risk of having diabetes due to low and stable blood sugar level. For your information, blood sugar level normally is higher after meals and lowest in the morning.

That is why having enough breakfast meal able to Supply adequate amount of sugar to our body. Bear in your mind that sugar is the main source of producing energy the fuels various metabolic processes in our body.

The Third Component: How to Eat?

Most of us eat for emotional or social reasons. For example, you will be a center of attention when you choose not to eat in your friend's invitation to a dinner party where plenty of delicious foods are served. In some cases, especially when you are feeling moody or happy, you have a huge appetite that you can eat like a horse.

You can only eat when you are feeling hungry. When you are eating, please do the following steps:

Do not weight your food - A common assumption that heavier food can contribute more fats in your body. Do not count calories - Your friends and family will freak out when they see you calculating with your calculators while they are dinner. Make sure your food has the right combinations - Every meal contains a perfect combination of protein and carbohydrates. Eating them both together able to convert carbohydrates to energy rather than to fat.
The Fourth Component: What to eat?

You have to 'reformat' what you have learned over the past few years about protein-rich and low-carbohydrate diets. You will feel extremely tired when have less energy Supply due to low carbohydrate diet. In order to replenish the scarce supply of carbohydrates in our body, make sure you consume the right carbohydrates so that it will not make you grow fat.

Accounting Is Dead - Long Live The Accountant!

Accounting Is Dead - Long Live The Accountant!

It was 1980 when IBM introduced the PC, the first micro-computer to be built with "off the shelf" components. Bill Gates, a college dropout tinkering with computers in his garage, got the contract to develop the operating system for them, and retained the rights to also market copies of the software as his own product, thanks to the brilliant negotiating of his mother, who was also his attorney.

With contract in hand, and ,000 from his mother, Gates then bought rights to an operating system named QDOS from Tim Paterson, it's creator.

Then, in 1983, Phoenix Technologies introduced an IBM compatible BIOS, and clone manufacturers started rolling personal computers off assembly lines in droves. Computerization of small accounting firms took hold and computers were no longer just the province of the large firms.

The "Big 8" lasted until 1987. The "Big 6" until 1998. And, the "Big 5" until 2001.

Now it's the "Big 4" and they're struggling.

Add the "brain drain" the big accounting firms experienced as they went through the "go-go" days of the 80's and 90's consulting, when the consulting divisions of the large firms were billing ten and twenty times as much in non-audit services as the audit division was billing. Salaries being paid to consulting divisions were growing at astronomical rates and salaries for new auditors were in the tank.

Then, we had the "outsourcing" and "offshoring" fads.

Yeah, they're fads. Wages will rise, and the work will come back (if there's any left to be done, after industry declines to unheard of levels).

Now we have Cloud Computing. It's not computing "in the Cloud." That's just a fancy and extremely large computer network. You think of it as "in the Cloud" because its almost like you don't really have something in your hand that contains your data like you could when it was on your local hard drive instead of one somewhere across the country.

Yeah, we've gone through a lot in the world of accounting practice, and as technology advances, were going to go through a lot more.

The computer revolution has only just begun. But, it's not just "computers" per se, there's a whole litany of things that were spawned by computerization.

Now you have things like POS systems in retail establishments, inventory and process control systems in manufacturing, and data mining through information retrieval systems. The whole spectrum of tools and systems to give answers to questions that no one ever thought to ask before. The first phase was the consulting craze that killed off Arthur Anderson.

Of course consulting started before that, but the rise of the consulting firm as a commodity began in earnest when the big accounting firms started moving in where McKinsey & Co., and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) had once ruled the roost with their "secrets." Consulting became a commodity because the data was available. The data was available because the world was computerized on Powerful computers sold at rock bottom prices.

Soon, every unemployed or semi-employed "expert" was hanging out their shingle as a consultant.

Then the niches arose.

Accountants had been auditors and tax professionals. Now they were rate auditors, loan auditors, internal auditors, and even IT auditors. Tax preparers became tax planners and sold investment advice. Auditors became forensic experts and testified about fraud. Niches were created, and then niches were broken further into sub-niches and specializations. Before long everyone became an expert just like everyone else, and the result became that no one was looked at as an expert.

Auditors began to tout "Assurance" services and investing in politicians much as the AMA (American Medical Association) and the Trial Lawyers Association had done before them, until they were able to start providing "Forward Looking" statements (as long as they were labeled "Forward Looking") and they were able to get limits to liability enacted.

With all this change and confusion in the industry, even the auditors couldn't get a break. There are rising calls for the removal of the SEC audit requirement for public companies, with the demand that audits be left as a choice for firms rather than be a requirement.

And, the nail that will drive the lid onto the coffin? Fair Tax. National Sales Tax. Or some other theory that eliminates the IRS. (Could this be why the new healthcare bill was written, to change the function of the IRS from tax collector to healthcare billing service?)

With the elimination of the IRS, and the elimination of the requirement for audited statements, what is left for the poor accounting profession?

It could be consulting, or it could be account services, or transaction services, or any of a myriad of niche like specialties. It could be anything "below the line," or it could be something "above the line" such as asset management, fraud control, legal support or forensics.

Trying to figure out what will become of the industry is like fortune telling, all smoke and mirrors. But, because you need to be able to make strategic choices, it's the only option you have if you want your practice to thrive.

One suggestion is that you do what you were taught in school, and what you talk to your clients about doing. You perform an SWOT analysis. Yeah, the good old SWOT analysis. Just sit down with a piece of paper and write out your strengths and your weaknesses, what opportunities you have and what threats you face. Write it down and study it.

Personally, I think that one of the strengths of the typical accountant is their familiarity with numerical analysis. So, where are the opportunities for numerical analysis? Maybe you also have a legal streak. You could add contract analysis, and revenue recognitions to the list of services you offer.

There are all types of niches and services that will require the skills of a "number" person, and as information becomes more database driven, the opportunities for growth and specialization abound. They just aren't the simple debits and credits of yesteryear.
