What Type of GPS Do You Need For Your Motorcycle?

There are 3 types of GPS units for motorbikes; portable outdoor units, GPS units designed specifically for your motorcycle/ scooter, and GPS/PDA hybrids.

If you also enjoy outdoor activities such as mountain biking, rambling, or even camping; a portable GPS that can be taken anywhere with you would be ideal. As well as navigating your off-road persuits, versatile Sat Nav's, like the Garmin Quest 2, operate in any vehicle. As well as motorcycling, you can take it in your car, on your boat, or even on a plane with you.

GPS devices designed exclusively for motorcycles can offer you some very impressive features. Especially designed with you, the motorcyclist, in mind, units like the TomTom RIDER have tough, weather-proof casing, touch-screen options for gloves, and anti-glare screens. One of the latest features introduced by TomTom for effective communication, is a system which transmits your spoken instructions via a built-in Bluetooth Audio system, using a headset that sits inside your helmet.

The final type of GPS device that may appeal to you is the PDA/GPS hybrid. Although these devices have been designed primarily with portability in mind, most come with the added bonus of having a large screen. So, like the hand-held outdoor GPS units, this type of GPS would be ideal for those of you who enjoy a range of outdoor activities. With an integrated PDA on top of this, GPS/ PDA devices, like the Mio A201 for example, can be handy for work and play. With features like Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, you will be able to catch up on work anytime, anyplace. If you prefer to listen to music on the Move, play games, or store digital photos, a GPS device like this one is an ideal choice

Does the Reception Capabilities of Your Motorcycle GPS Meet Your Needs?

When selecting a GPS for your motorcycle, it is worth thinking about how accurate you want your satellite signals to be, in pinpointing your position.

A lot of GPS units available today have an accuracy of approximately 6-8 meters. However, many of the newer GPS models are designed with a WaaS (Wide Area Augmentation System) capability, resulting in accuracies of 3-4 meters 95% of the time. The Garmin Quest 2 for example, has a flip up external antenna equipped with a 12-channel WaaS GPS receiver; Supplying position accuracy of up to 9 feet.

If you enjoy riding in dense woodlands and urban areas, it is worth noting that GPS devices incorporating the new SiRF Star III Chip Set, are units to look out for. This high performance, low Power consumption chipset has superior sensitivity in high foliage surroundings. It is also worth noting that GPS units with external powered antennas are great in maintaining a signal in deep woodlands.

Does the Battery Life of Your Motorcycle GPS Suit Your Needs?

With the freedom to ride just about anywhere with a GPS; Battery life is an important component to consider. Most GPS units use 2, 4, or 6 'aa' Batteries, which can last up to 6 hours. GPS units with integrated reChargeable Batteries are the ideal choice if you occasionally lose track of time. With GPS systems like the TomTom RIDER, you can Charge your Battery at home, while planning your next route, or continuously keep topped up with power, by Charging your GPS directly from your bikes battery.

How Resistant Is Your Motorcycle GPS To Vibration & Hard Ware?

With the freedom to ride just about anywhere and not get lost, it is guaranteed your GPS will get a great deal of use (and reverberation). So, it is important to consider how durable your GPS is, in withstanding such conditions.

GPS devices designed exclusively for Motorcycles, like the TomTom RIDER have been designed with this in mind. Not only weather proof, its tough outer case and rugged shock proof mount has been designed to absorb any external friction.

Although most GPS devices come with a mount, it is an absolute must that you use a vibration isolated mount if your GPS will be used regularly on your motorcycle. The RAM mount by NPI, which is fast becoming the industry standard, manufacture anti-vibration ball and socket mounting systems allowing you to mount practically anything, anywhere with vibration protection and durability. This would be an ideal addition to the Garmin Quest 2 GPS if you were purchasing this portable GPS for a lot of use on your motorcycle.

Do You Want Your Motorcycle GPS To Have 2-Way Communication?

Some of the most recent GPS systems to be launched for motorcycles have taken 2-way communication to a whole new level.

If you own a GPRS Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, it is worth knowing that many Sat Nav's, like the TomTom RIDER, have incorporated a Bluetooth receiver, amongst their many features. With the ability to connect your phone via Bluetooth, and receive incoming phone calls through your GPS and Bluetooth headset, you need never have to take your gloves and helmet off to answer your phone again.

You could even use your Bluetooth enabled phones' Wireless Internet, and with certain models of GPS, receive real time information on traffic conditions.

Enjoy riding in groups? It is worth knowing there are some recent hand held units that can offer built in Radios that will not only allow you to communicate with other members of your group, but will also display everyone's location on your screen.

How Easy Is Your Motorcycle GPS To Update?

With Roads constantly changing, the ability to update your device easily, and at a reasonable cost, are very important factors to consider when selecting your GPS.

It is important to realize that each type of GPS will be updated in a different way, and so you need to choose which process is better for you.

Those which are attached to a PDA, like the Mio A201 for example, are usually updated via a PC, whereas dedicated in-vehicle units tend to be updated via a CD. These have to be purchased from the road map data supplier.

Some specific software vendors have solutions for preparing maps which can be downloaded to your GPS unit. Most notably, TomTom operate the TomTom PLUS service.

The Choice: Budget Considerations

In essence, your choice can be reasonably simple: Buy the most expensive GPS that you can afford, that suits your needs.

It is important, using my pointers above, to decide which features are most important to you. If you want an up-to-the-minute GPS for your motorcycle; with features like real-time, on demand traffic information, hands-free calling, turn by turn voice instructions via bluetooth headsets, alerts for speed camera locations, plus thousands of useful points of interest, GPS sytems like the TomTom RIDER start from approximately £550 inc. VAT.

If, however, you are looking for more of a Toy to play with, and a GPS that will simply get you from A to B, then a hand held device could be a better choice. With a range of features, like simple voice guidance, compass mode, MP3 player, and essentially portability, GPS devices like the Mio 268 and the Garmin Quest 2 are ideal for motorcycles, and a range of outdoor activities. The Mio 268, and hand held GPS units with similar features, start from approximately £250 inc. VAT.

Techniques to Fix Cell Phone Dropped in Water

Techniques to Fix Cell Phone Dropped in Water

It happens in a second, you make a hasty Move such as shuffling for something in your pocket or grabbing an item off the shelf and in just a few seconds your cell phone can drop from your pocket or a shelf into the sink or toilet. Although most people quickly grab their phones out of water, unless it's a toilet in which case there may be some hesitation before they yank it out, the end result is usually that the phone no longer works or if it does turn on does not have all of the same functional features that it did before.

Before you start to panic however if the same situation has occurred for you, there are a few tips that can help you fix a cell phone dropped in water so long as you act quick and perform the steps in the proper order. This is especially important because making a mistake such as trying to turn your cell phone back on to soon after it is dropped in the water can cause it to short out which will lead to even more problems.

It also can lead to the cell phone's circuits frying which means that you will never be able to fix it so if there is one thing that you remember it should be never to turn a cell phone back on after you have dropped it in water. Instead, you need to quickly reMove the Battery from the device. Regardless of what type of plan you have for removing the water from your cell phone you need to get the Battery out of the cell phone if there is any hope that it will survive its traumatic ordeal.

After this step there are several things that you can do. One of the most popular techniques is to fill a large bag with dry rice and seal it tight. Leave the cell phone in the rice bag overnight and the rice will pull out the moisture and water from the phone allowing it to dry out quicker. Since it also pulls it from the air you can rest assured that in the morning when you open the bag your phone will be completely dried out. Although there is no guarantee that the phone will turn back on when you put the Battery back in, there is a much higher chance than if you just cross your fingers and wait.

A similar method that is along the same lines is using a sealed container in conjunction with a Dri-Z-Air component which can be found at a hardware store. These machines essentially work just like the rice to pull the moisture out of the air and your cell phone although they may work a lot faster since they have adjustable settings on them that allow you to control how fast the air is reMoved.

No matter which technique you end up choosing to use to fix a cell phone plunged in water, keep in mind that if there is any doubt you should always walk on the side of caution and let your phone dry out for a longer period of time. Since turning a mobile phone on while it is still wet is a guarantee that you will ruin it, be patient and wait the full length of time. In the end you will end up saving more than just a few hours in exchange for your patience.

5 High Tech Concrete Alternatives Are Eco-Friendly

5 High Tech Concrete Alternatives Are Eco-Friendly

The times they are a-changing. "Green" is in. Consumers want environmentally friendly products, homes and buildings. The government wants to encourage sustainability. Green buildings, not yet common, command a premium price. The result is that the building industry is developing and using more earth-friendly products than ever. Architects and engineers are designing green buildings and specifying green building materials more often than ever.

Concrete is an amazing material. It's long lasting, high strength and easily produced. It's one of the most common building materials used around the world. Cement, a major component of concrete however, is environmentally "dirty." One ton of carbon dioxide is produced for every ton of cement created. There has been a lot of work done recently to improve concrete by developing high-tech and green alternatives.

During recent years a number of companies have put intense effort into

Calera, a California company, developed an innovative method to produce both cement and aggregate, another component of concrete. Their method of production however, is unique. During production of every ton of cement, their methods actually reMove 1/2 ton of CO2 from the air.

Another California company, iCrete, developed a "mix design technology" to create high performance concrete that is notably superior to traditional concrete, yet more economical with lower gas emissions. According to iCrete the use of this product can reduce the carbon footprint of a typical construction project by 40 percent.

A New Jersey company, Hycrete, has developed a method to permanently waterproof concrete. This method eliminates the need and expense of using petroleum based membranes to protect underground concrete from moisture in the soil. The process also speeds up construction, helps building last longer and reduces use of petroleum-based products.

Scientists at MIT have been studying the structure of concrete at the sub-microscopic level. They've been trying to determine why concrete ages and deteriorates over time. Their findings indicate that eventually they will be able to increase the longevity of concrete, and buildings, from about one hundred years to many thousands of years requiring less concrete to be made in the first place.

The University of Michigan has developed a self-healing concrete that can withstand much more sever strain than ordinary concrete. When concrete is severely stressed, microscopic cracks form.

These cracks expose dry cement in which reacts with CO2 and moisture to form calcium carbonate 'scars' which quickly heal the concrete. By delaying or even reversing the typical deterioration process, the concrete help structures last longer and reduce environmental impacts.

Concrete is one of the most useful and widely used building materials on Earth. That won't change anytime soon. Concrete has properties that make it extremely useful engineers and architects in a wide variety of applications. Innovations over the past decade promise to make concrete even more useful, while at the same time making it more durable, more economical and reducing environmental impacts.

Start a Surplus, Liquidation and Closeout Business

Start a Surplus, Liquidation and Closeout Business

Surplus inventory business opportunity is so large it could be almost anything. Husband and wife team could even sell different surplus or liquidation merchandise. We can point you in the right direction but the one thing we can not do is give you the desire and motivation. It is critical for that reason to pick an area to specialize in that is interesting to you. Start small part time selling on eBay and grow at your own pace. Do not quit your job. eBay solves the number one reason for business failure lack of customers or sales.

When you are ready to make tour first purchase visit the facility and personally inspect the merchandise before purchasing anything. Also start with no larger than a pallet on your first purchase. NEVER purchase a truck load on your first several purchases. Salvage is another name for junk you will not be in business long if you do not inspect your loads prior to buying. Always ask what percentage of the load is throw away. Do Not buy blind purchases

Start buy taking merchandise to flea markets to keep the inventory turning and cash flow moving it will also help pay the bills when first starting out. Inventory that couldn't be sold should be taken to local auctions for disposition, merchandise sitting on shelves is taking up valuable space that could be better used on new inventory that will sell.

Stay extremely focused don't get side tracked into non money making time consuming projects, keep it simple. Finding liquidation merchandise is the easy part. Developing buyers for the merchandise will consume most of your time.

So who are the primary buyers of surplus, liquidation and closeout merchandise? They are independent retail stores with fewer than 5 locations. They will need small minimum order requirements that large manufacturers will not want to deal with. Never forget this is your niche market focus on it.

E-Lab and E-Diagnostics Would Be New Innovative Methods in Cloud Computing Technology

E-Lab and E-Diagnostics Would Be New Innovative Methods in Cloud Computing Technology

By the time you read through this article, a new Cloud Computing protocol would be born.

Cloud computing is a complex system of data compilation, processing and storage which allows the end-user to easily access information without knowing the physical location of the service provider or configuration of the computer system. The cloud computing set-up along with online Voice and Video streaming facilities are veritable tools that make the birth of e-lab and e-diagnostics protocols the next frontier of internet development.

Here is an interesting snippet on the future of cloud computing.

Firstly, let's define e-lab. It means an electronic laboratory that operates via the World Wide Web.

Presently, a typical laboratory consists of a room or building where scientific equipment or chemicals are kept. Within the confines of the laboratory, scientists conduct tests, teach or perform experiments and treat illnesses.

The constant use of equipment and chemicals by scientists necessitate costly purchase, transportation and maintenance in order to provide fast-track, competitive and cutting edge services to health-care professionals, scientists, end-users and beneficiaries.

Therefore, there is an urgent need to make laboratory more cost effective by developing the e-lab.

To measure soil acidity for instance, a pH meter is required. The price of this device ranges in tens of dollars. However, rather than purchasing a pH meter, a less costly e-lab biotechnology electrode would be provided to the end-user. When this device is immersed in a solution, it would measure the pH as encrypted information through a microprocessor in any portable computerized device, e.g. cell-phone or laptop. The digital information could then be uploaded onto the internet where the encrypted information would be processed by the e-lab service provider into a visually readable pH data. A disposable or re-usable bio-tech pH electrode might be provided.

The above-mentioned internet compatibility would be ideal for certain scientific tests such as screening of blood fluid components, eye defects, enzyme activity, optical, sonic and temperature measurements.

Secondly, e-diagnostics could be defined as the use of the internet as a source for processing digital diagnostic information by cloud computing.

This innovative technique could be illustrated by re-inventing cutting edge medical equipment such as the CT-Scan or X-ray computed Tomography device which requires a heavy purchase, maintenance and overhead cost.

CT-Scan is used as a veritable tool for prevention-cum-screening of cancers, heart and bone diseases. it is a necessity in any modern hospital setting.

Although the usage of the CT-Scan has increased exponentially over the last three decades in many countries, its use is still highly restricted to affluent neighborhoods and nations.

However, with the coming of e-diagnostics, this expensive machine would be separated into two parts. The first part or 'in-house component' would contain the X-ray Tomography reader-cum-data-collector.

An 'e-diagnostics-cloud-computing component' which would be controlled by the service provider would be the second part. In this device, the data uploaded from the CT-Scan would be sent through the internet to the network of the service provider where it would be processed for billing, 3-D display of various bodily structures and other user-friendly features.

Separation of the CT-Scan's mainframe from the data processing unit would allow service providers to Charge low rates for each data processed through their cloud computing networks.

Therefore, scientists who study biological and paleontological specimen at remote locations around the globe would be saved the hassle of having to purchase, maintain or Move a large and expensive CT-Scan about. All they would require would be a cheaper and Lighter 'in-house component' that coverts tomography readings of human structures into encrypted digital information. Such digitized data could be sent electronically through the internet to the service provider who in turn uses his e-diagnostics tools within seconds to send back printable pictures, videos or graphics from processed data.

Couldn't this technology be applied to other expensive scientific techno-behemoths? Of course, it's possible.

The advent of the e-lab's and e-diagnostics' protocol at a yet to be determined future date might bring succor to the countless number of people who are yet to benefit from the versatility of a much awaited but yet to be re-invented e-lab-CT-Scan or any other colossal scientific equipment.

Advantages of e-lab & e-diagnostics

• Less expensive and more Light-weight equipment.
• Lesser amount of chemicals required for tests.
• Simplified and reduced maintenance cost.
• Affordable screening procedure.
• Accessibility from remote locations.
• Easy equipment mobility.
• Convenient.
• User friendly.
• Revolutionize the field of bio-informatics and laboratory technology.
• Possibility of designing portable electronic devices that could serve as analytical and diagnostic tools.

Disadvantages of the proposal

• Hosts and service providers might have control over the medical records or research data of patients and scientists respectively.

• Health-care statistics or research data of developing countries may be monitored or tinkered with by web-hosts or service providers in the developed world.

• It may cause capital fLight and under-utilization of laboratory technicians in many parts of the world as many Do-It-Yourself screening and test kits become ubiquitous.

To allay the fears of governments, service providers and end-users, a new internet protocol might have to be drafted and endorsed by all member states of the United Nations.
Let the race of developing the e-lab & e-diagnostics program's application, platform, storage and infrastructure begin. Then servers and clients can enjoy a new era of the internet.

That's the future of cloud computing.

In conclusion, let's hope that this article would spur the world's cybernetics Movers and shakers to action.

Safe Pallet Racking - Is Your Pallet Racking Certified?

Safe Pallet Racking - Is Your Pallet Racking Certified?

The two most important questions you need to ask a yourself before you purchase your Warehouse Racking systems:

1. Does your pallet racking meet the Australian Standards?
2. Has your pallet racking been certified?

These are very good questions, because there is more to pallet racking than meets the eye.

Australian Standards
Australian Standards are established to protect consumers against cheap inferior products being made locally or imported and pallet racking is no exception. The Australian Standard defines the minimum requirements for the design, fabrication, and erection tolerances, test methods, operation, and maintenance of pallet racking. In regards to Pallet Racking you must ensure the product has been tested and rated in accordance with Australian Standard AS4084-1993. A lot of importers fall into the trap of claiming that their pallet racking is certified by their supplier when in fact they need to hold the certificate themselves. The danger is that quite often the testing has been done by the supplier overseas and not done by a certified Australian testing facility. The danger therefore is that they may have tested only tested part of their range and subsequently the Racking you but will not meet those standards.

Certified
On the other hand ensuring the racking has been locally certified will give you and your employees a complete level of security as not only is every component tested but given a load rating as well. The largest testing facility in Australia is the Monash University and they will give the product what's called

EVALUATION OF ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF PALLET RACKING COMPONENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS 4084-1993

Some of the Certification tests that are performed by the Monash University include...

Stub column tests
To determine the form factor (Q) of the perforated rack columns in accordance with AS 4084-1993, Clause 8.2 for the 90x70x1.8mm upright columns.

Pallet beam tests
To determine the bending pallet beam properties in accordance with AS4084-1993, Clause 8.3.1 for the 100x45x1.5 pallet beam section.

Pallet beam to column connection tests
To determine the connection moment, in accordance with AS4084-1993, Clause 8.4.1. "Cantilever test", for the 90x70 column in combination of 100x45 beams.

Portal connection tests
This test shall be used to obtain a joint spring constant needed for semi rigid frame analysis, in accordance with AS4084-1993, Clause 8.4.2, "Portal test", for the same combination as in Section 1.4.

Coupon tensile tests
To determine the tensile yield strength of the material used in making the beam and column sections, the specimens were taken from the column and beam sections tested.

Acquiring a certificate protects everyone, from the importer, vendor and the customer who has an obligation to Supply a safe working environment. Today's Occupational Health and Safety laws are so stringent that you would be taking an enormous risk if you were to purchase new or second hand pallet racking for your business from a supplier unable to provide a certified product.

Therefore before selecting pallet racking for your business, you should ensure that you are getting a certified and therefore thoroughly tested product from your supplier.

Infant Allergies - How Much Is Too Much Sugar?

Infant Allergies - How Much Is Too Much Sugar?

Many people often ask is it possible to have a sugar allergy. They always remark it just seems as if their body is so sensitive to any excess consumption of sugar.

Common conflicting symptoms after eating too much sugar include:

stomachache or indigestion gas, abdominal cramps and diarrhea hyperactivity, anxiousness or even depression sluggish, bloated feeling with stiff joints and muscles

Now you must realize, this is the common symptoms in an adult or a grown child. We actually do have a matured digestive system which is supposed to be capable of breaking down the component parts of the foods we eat on a daily basis.

If we are having this kind of difficulty, just imagine what a newborn child or a very young child must be feeling like.

But I Don't Feed My Baby Sugar

I often get to hear this one. My answer though - "When's the last time you have read the ingredient label on your child's can or bottle of formula?" Or if you happen to be breastfeeding exclusively, "what's in your diet?"

Sugar is not just that white stuff which is on your table in a sugar bowl. Candy, cookies, crackers, bakery or bread products, dairy products and fruit juices or fruit beverages, dried fruits and some vegetables, desserts and snack foods. This list is just the tip of the food products we use on a daily basis that can have high sugar contents. All of these have either natural sugars or can be high in added sugars during manufacturing and processing.

Then there is the honey, molasses, powdered sugar and brown sugar. What about the fructose, sucrose, dextrose and all of these types which are added during manufacturing.

Then our regular foods such as condiments are often high in sugar. Ketchup, BBQ sauce and salad dressings are three perfect examples. If you put sweetener in your coffee, your cup of tea, have a soda, drink some fruit juice. All of these all have a lot of hidden sugar.

So if you happen to be breastfeeding and you are using these types of items on a daily basis, unfortunately your baby is too.

Then there is the other option. - baby's formula. Commonly, these formulas are for a newborn up to about two years of age. As a parent,we anticipate and expect a company to provide us with a product which is nutritionally sound for our baby's diet.

A recent survey of assorted formula varieties - just randomly pulled from the store's shelves, yielded some very surprising and disturbing results to the field of health care. Some of the major labeled companies, when their varieties were tested and the sugars were added up, greater than 50% of the formula was nothing but different types of sugar.

One variety, added to all these sugars was the ingredient soy protein isolate as itemized on the ingredient label. This ingredient tested out as a genetically modified form of soy. This formula also had an accumulation of soy oil itself in it as an ingredient. The soy oil tested out as a genetically modified version of soy plus it was a chemically altered extraction method used in processing which raises its toxicity level of chemicals unsafe for human consumption.

Then safflower oil was added which is very high in saturated fats (the bad kind) plus various other kinds of chemically altered vitamins and fillers were enclosed. The only actually good for you component in the entire formula was a small percentage of pure virgin coconut oil.

Check the front label on this package and it was labeled very predominantly on the front as a "complete nutritionally balanced meal for your child." How can any company believe this combination of ingredients is nutritionally balanced?

Even a person completely ignorant of diet and nutrition can tell with continued use this product is going to aggravate any possible infant allergies the child may have, is going to lead to obesity and a possible future diagnosis of diabetes.

All of this information is right on the ingredient label itself. You can never be too busy to take the few necessary minutes to read this label to guarantee your own baby's health.

Healthy Aging - How to Transform Your Body Into a Fat Burning Machine

Healthy Aging - How to Transform Your Body Into a Fat Burning Machine

Sadly to say that most people are misguided by the 'secret formula' in which it is usually hidden behind health scams and misinformation. The obesity spreads when the food products keep increasing in supermarket shelves. The problem is that we are depending on these foods at supermarkets based on its convenience and tastiness.

How do you get rid of this problem in order to maintain our health?

You can become fit as a fiddle when you start to practice healthy eating lifestyle. Basically, there are four components that will change your body into a fat burning machine.

The First Component: How Much to Eat?

You need to eat lots of the right foods to manipulate your homeostasis mechanism (or also known as negative feedback mechanism). Eating plenty of delicious food can assuage your hunger pangs. Therefore, you can eat it as many as you want.

The Second Component: How Often to Eat?

You will be surprised that eating six times per day able to prevent unstable blood sugar levels and prolonged periods of amino-acid deficiency. It is able to stabilized blood sugar level and it lowers the risk of having diabetes due to low and stable blood sugar level. For your information, blood sugar level normally is higher after meals and lowest in the morning.

That is why having enough breakfast meal able to Supply adequate amount of sugar to our body. Bear in your mind that sugar is the main source of producing energy the fuels various metabolic processes in our body.

The Third Component: How to Eat?

Most of us eat for emotional or social reasons. For example, you will be a center of attention when you choose not to eat in your friend's invitation to a dinner party where plenty of delicious foods are served. In some cases, especially when you are feeling moody or happy, you have a huge appetite that you can eat like a horse.

You can only eat when you are feeling hungry. When you are eating, please do the following steps:

Do not weight your food - A common assumption that heavier food can contribute more fats in your body. Do not count calories - Your friends and family will freak out when they see you calculating with your calculators while they are dinner. Make sure your food has the right combinations - Every meal contains a perfect combination of protein and carbohydrates. Eating them both together able to convert carbohydrates to energy rather than to fat.
The Fourth Component: What to eat?

You have to 'reformat' what you have learned over the past few years about protein-rich and low-carbohydrate diets. You will feel extremely tired when have less energy Supply due to low carbohydrate diet. In order to replenish the scarce supply of carbohydrates in our body, make sure you consume the right carbohydrates so that it will not make you grow fat.

You could display your stereo or Audio equipment anywhere but if you really want to protect your system you should buy some quality equipment racks that are meant to enclose your stereo system. There are simple equipment racks that are made of plastic or wood that would do the job, but it's much smarter to buy something that will protect your system much better.

If you do have an advance home theater system, it probably already cost you a pretty penny. If you have already invested in that type of equipment, then investing a little bit more to protect it would be the logical step that should follow. There are many Audio equipment racks that are sold with accessories that protect and manage your Power distribution and cable installation. Accounting Is Dead - Long Live The Accountant!

Accounting Is Dead - Long Live The Accountant!

It was 1980 when IBM introduced the PC, the first micro-computer to be built with "off the shelf" components. Bill Gates, a college dropout tinkering with computers in his garage, got the contract to develop the operating system for them, and retained the rights to also market copies of the software as his own product, thanks to the brilliant negotiating of his mother, who was also his attorney.

With contract in hand, and ,000 from his mother, Gates then bought rights to an operating system named QDOS from Tim Paterson, it's creator.

Then, in 1983, Phoenix Technologies introduced an IBM compatible BIOS, and clone manufacturers started rolling personal computers off assembly lines in droves. Computerization of small accounting firms took hold and computers were no longer just the province of the large firms.

The "Big 8" lasted until 1987. The "Big 6" until 1998. And, the "Big 5" until 2001.

Now it's the "Big 4" and they're struggling.

Add the "brain drain" the big accounting firms experienced as they went through the "go-go" days of the 80's and 90's consulting, when the consulting divisions of the large firms were billing ten and twenty times as much in non-audit services as the audit division was billing. Salaries being paid to consulting divisions were growing at astronomical rates and salaries for new auditors were in the tank.

Then, we had the "outsourcing" and "offshoring" fads.

Yeah, they're fads. Wages will rise, and the work will come back (if there's any left to be done, after industry declines to unheard of levels).

Now we have Cloud Computing. It's not computing "in the Cloud." That's just a fancy and extremely large computer network. You think of it as "in the Cloud" because its almost like you don't really have something in your hand that contains your data like you could when it was on your local hard drive instead of one somewhere across the country.

Yeah, we've gone through a lot in the world of accounting practice, and as technology advances, were going to go through a lot more.

The computer revolution has only just begun. But, it's not just "computers" per se, there's a whole litany of things that were spawned by computerization.

Now you have things like POS systems in retail establishments, inventory and process control systems in manufacturing, and data mining through information retrieval systems. The whole spectrum of tools and systems to give answers to questions that no one ever thought to ask before. The first phase was the consulting craze that killed off Arthur Anderson.

Of course consulting started before that, but the rise of the consulting firm as a commodity began in earnest when the big accounting firms started moving in where McKinsey & Co., and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) had once ruled the roost with their "secrets." Consulting became a commodity because the data was available. The data was available because the world was computerized on Powerful computers sold at rock bottom prices.

Soon, every unemployed or semi-employed "expert" was hanging out their shingle as a consultant.

Then the niches arose.

Accountants had been auditors and tax professionals. Now they were rate auditors, loan auditors, internal auditors, and even IT auditors. Tax preparers became tax planners and sold investment advice. Auditors became forensic experts and testified about fraud. Niches were created, and then niches were broken further into sub-niches and specializations. Before long everyone became an expert just like everyone else, and the result became that no one was looked at as an expert.

Auditors began to tout "Assurance" services and investing in politicians much as the AMA (American Medical Association) and the Trial Lawyers Association had done before them, until they were able to start providing "Forward Looking" statements (as long as they were labeled "Forward Looking") and they were able to get limits to liability enacted.

With all this change and confusion in the industry, even the auditors couldn't get a break. There are rising calls for the removal of the SEC audit requirement for public companies, with the demand that audits be left as a choice for firms rather than be a requirement.

And, the nail that will drive the lid onto the coffin? Fair Tax. National Sales Tax. Or some other theory that eliminates the IRS. (Could this be why the new healthcare bill was written, to change the function of the IRS from tax collector to healthcare billing service?)

With the elimination of the IRS, and the elimination of the requirement for audited statements, what is left for the poor accounting profession?

It could be consulting, or it could be account services, or transaction services, or any of a myriad of niche like specialties. It could be anything "below the line," or it could be something "above the line" such as asset management, fraud control, legal support or forensics.

Trying to figure out what will become of the industry is like fortune telling, all smoke and mirrors. But, because you need to be able to make strategic choices, it's the only option you have if you want your practice to thrive.

One suggestion is that you do what you were taught in school, and what you talk to your clients about doing. You perform an SWOT analysis. Yeah, the good old SWOT analysis. Just sit down with a piece of paper and write out your strengths and your weaknesses, what opportunities you have and what threats you face. Write it down and study it.

Personally, I think that one of the strengths of the typical accountant is their familiarity with numerical analysis. So, where are the opportunities for numerical analysis? Maybe you also have a legal streak. You could add contract analysis, and revenue recognitions to the list of services you offer.

There are all types of niches and services that will require the skills of a "number" person, and as information becomes more database driven, the opportunities for growth and specialization abound. They just aren't the simple debits and credits of yesteryear.

Earthquake Proof Cabinets - A Wise Home Improvement

Earthquake Proof Cabinets - A Wise Home Improvement

Are you looking for a home improvement project to do around the house; something that will add value to your home, but not a project that will send you to the poor house during this recession? If this is the type of a project you are looking for I have a couple of ideas.

First of all, it makes sense to retrofit your cabinets around the home. Especially if you have young children, and you want to make sure they don't get into any items that could hurt them. But even if you don't, you might consider retrofitting your cabinets and making them Earthquake proof.

Despite what people think there's no such thing as earthquake season and quakes can come at any time. Even those people who do not live in known Earthquake areas may be jolted into a rude awakening when the ground below them starts shaking. It makes sense to do the obvious home improvements to keep your family from harm during a big quake; such as strapping your water heaters, and fastening your largest and heaviest furniture to actual studs in the wall.

Still, you mustn't forget all your breakable items there in all your cabinets. When a big one comes, the cabinet doors will fly open and everything on the shelves will be launched like a missile through the kitchen, across rooms, and onto the floor of your home.

This can make a complete mass, not to mention cost you thousands of dollars in broken goods, or even destroyed family heirlooms. I hope you will please consider this very easy home-improvement project. One that must be done before the big one comes. Think on it and then take action.

Commercial Dishwasher Accessories

Once you have availed yourself with a commercial dishwasher, and your catering business is beginning to grow, it may be time to start thinking about buying further additions for your machine. For example, if you have a stand-alone machine in a lonely corner of your kitchen, it could be a good investment to give it some company in the form of a sink, or even create some extra storage space by putting it on a special stand.

Obviously most kitchens will be already kitted out with sinks, but it is very rare that one, or possibly even two, will be enough. Food will need to be washed and prepared in the sink, and it would be extremely unhygienic to scrape dirty plates into the same sink where the vegetables are washed and peeled, so a second sink exclusively for your commercial dishwasher could be an excellent addition to the kitchen. This would also help divide your kitchen into areas for cleaning and cooking, creating a better sense of order. If space is an issue, a mini sink, a unit no bigger than a metre, long, would be able to be tucked in most corners, and this simple accessory would allow you to rinse dirty plates, avoiding having crockery coming out of the dishwasher still dirty and in need of a second wash.

Component Shelf

With a little extra space and plumbing, it may even be worth installing a pre-wash spray unit. This special tap is a special shower for your plates, and takes out the need to wipe away the food and grease as you clean, simply blasting it off. A pre-wash spray unit will cost around GBP 210 - a small price to pay for having your kitchen run that little bit more smoothly. It even allows you to set up a little production line for your commercial dishwasher, with one human dishwasher rinsing the plates, and another loading them into the dishwasher basket.

Commercial Dishwasher Accessories

While a sink or a pre-wash spray may have your commercial dishwasher working as a model of efficiency, and eliminate all danger of your chefs and customers running out of plates and utensils, it may be too efficient - as strange as that sounds, during a quieter service, you may find that the clean plates outnumber the dirty, and you need storage space. It is easy enough to stack your plates, pans and glasses on shelving units, but this could actually become very unhygienic. The shelves would need to be cleaned every few days to ensure there is no build-up of dust, and any residual moisture on the glasses or plates could be left to stagnate, leaving faint spots and bacteria all over your supposedly clean crockery. To avoid this, you can purchase extra dishwasher baskets; not only will they give you extra containers for your excess plates, but they can also be used in the machine.

And what if you have limited space, and the shelf earmarked for your detergent and dishwasher cleaning products needs to be used to store other utensils or products? Simple - you can buy a stand; this will raise your dishwasher up, so there will be no complaints about sore backs from bending down to heave heavy baskets out of the machine, but there will be extra space for all your cleaning products - out of sight, away from food and crockery, and not likely to be tripped over by chefs in a hurry. With a few little extras, it is easy to make your commercial dishwasher an excellent component in a cleaner, more efficient kitchen.

Unraveling the Different Aspects of Geothermal Heating

Gone are the days when people used to rely on the traditional forms of energy. People are now opting for newer forms of energy to reduce the burden of already depleting resources. This is the reason why people from Carlisle are opting for Geothermal Heating for applications such as residential Heating. Geothermal Heating Carlisle is a popular alternative for air Heating systems.

An understanding of the different aspects of geothermal heating will help you get familiarized with the entire process and its features.

Component Shelf

How Geothermal Heating in Carlisle Works?

Unraveling the Different Aspects of Geothermal Heating

Geothermal heating basically operates on the fact that the Earth's surface temperature remains constant. The temperature below the ground is controlled to bring the temperature above the ground closer to the temperature below the ground. Even though geothermal systems vary, the basic operating principle system remains the same. Thus, a heat conducting liquid like water is circulated via pipes that are situated below the ground. This circulated water is then cooled or heating depending upon the underground temperature.

The water then circulates through the building and passes through a distribution system. It eventually cools or heats the entire building. The eventual result is - the building heats in the winter and cools in the summer season.

What is the cost of geothermal systems?

It is true that geothermal systems are rather expensive to install. They are also expensive than the regular heating systems. This might work against the favor of middle-class consumers. However, compared to heating systems, they require less energy to operate. They also have a longer shelf-life than the geothermal systems. This is the main reason why they are a perfect long-term investment.

Components

The components used in geothermal systems vary from simple to complex. This depends on the application and make of the overall system. Some of the common components used in all the systems are as follows:

* Ground loops ( Similar to pipes)
* Liquid
* Heat pump

You can hire experts to do the installation of geothermal heating system in Carlisle for you.

Ideas For Building Model Tank Displays

People have been enjoying the hobby of building model tanks for many years now. Model building is a way to show people how much attention to detail and what sort of artistic flair you might have. Model tanks could easily be relegated to spending their days gathering dust on some bookcase shelf somewhere but why should they when you can build a dynamic display for them? This will help to add life to your models and give them some character.

A display involving scenery and built to scale is known as a diorama. It can be any sort of scene in which the tank would have been found. Once it is assembled you can then enclose your diorama in plexiglass or even in glass if you so choose. You can even add electric to it so that the different electrical components such as buildings can be lit up. If you do not want to go to that length then you can just simply mount it onto a large flat board for display. One step in deciding what sort of diorama you would like to build is to know the history behind them.

Component Shelf

Dioramas, having been around for centuries, have always been used as a means of creating scaled down versions of actual scenes. Museums have been using them for many years as a means of recreating historical scenes. Even children have created shoebox dioramas for their small dolls. Model builders have been perfecting the art of the diorama in order to create wonderful scenes for their models. One thing to keep in mind when you prepare to build your diorama you should base it around your model tank and not the other way around.

Ideas For Building Model Tank Displays

A correctly built diorama will be built to the same scale as your model tank so that it fits in properly. If you are building a Sherman tank then you might consider placing it in a tropical type of setting. If you are building an M1A1 Abrams then the desert would be a perfect scene for it. Look for pictures in books or on the Internet to get ideas as to what sort of scene would best suit the tank that you have built.

Once you begin to build dioramas such as these you have taken a step toward keeping alive an ancient tradition. Where you take that next step will be up to you. Either you can turn diorama building into a hobby that goes hand in hand with model building, or you can allow your model tanks to languish on their shelves as they gather dust. It is all up to you.

Overview of the Electric Wine Cooler

One of the current trends in home decor today is the inclusion of an electric wine cooler into kitchen spaces. Not only are they energy efficient, but also contain ozone-depleting chemicals which help the environment. Best of all, although designed for wine bottles, they can serve multiple purposes in that any drink container remains cool and ready to drink saving the continual opening of refrigerator doors.

Electric wine coolers today have developed into high-tech, free-standing units that are designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of any room. Often constructed with facades in chrome and/or black, their dual-pane glass glass reveal sturdy shelf racks that can hold any number of bottles which keep one informed as to when it is time to restock.

Component Shelf

As with any wine storage system, certain components are extremely important in order to ensure a high quality product once the cork is popped. Thermoelectric temperature controls, humidity monitors, an anti-vibration mode, and minimal parts ensure that wine is constantly maintained in optimum conditions and units are long-lasting.

Overview of the Electric Wine Cooler

Added features such as security locks are also now available in an electric wine cooler. This is especially important for those who have children and teens in the home to ensure a safe environment. Additionally, although units are free-standing, they can also be secured under kitchen counters in order to make them an integral part of kitchen decor.

For those interested in higher end units, coolers can also be equipped with dual temperature controls. This ensures that red and white wines are kept at the proper temperatures. Push-button controls with digital displays allow users to maintain proper temperatures and humidity for each type of beverage which confirms that taste and quality are maintained.

The trend in the use of an electric wine cooler is ever-increasing and for good reason. It is not only pleasing to the eye, but it increases the value of any kitchen. Adding an elegant component to any decor can only serve as a benefit in the long run.

Overview of the Electric Wine Cooler

Anthony will show you how to select a wine bottle cooler. It is recommended that an electric wine cooler is chosen as it is more convenient than ice buckets.

History of Cable Ties

Before the invention of cable ties, the early methods of tying and securing items were quite unorganized. The manufacturers had to adhere to friction tapes, hand wrapping through lacing cords and twines. However, though they used to be secure initially, things like adhesive tape used to be at risk of getting peeled off once dry and lacing cords used to put the insulation wires at risk of being cut through.

Therefore, there emerged a need for a better securing product that would not only hold the wires together but also protect them from damage through its own use.

Component Shelf

The inventor of cable ties, Thomas & Betts was established in 1898 by two engineers, Robert Thomas and Hobart Betts after they graduated from Princeton University. The purpose of the company had always been to educate the end users about its products and, therefore, was quite successful in this regard. This was the company's strategy to generate a customer pull also by aiming at keeping the distributor's shelves occupied by T & B products. It was in the 1930's when the company expressed concern about it's mutually beneficial goals through having a business partner like relationship with the distributors who were very prominent in reaching the target audience.

History of Cable Ties

Cable ties were first invented in the year 1958 by an electrical company known as Thomas & Betts. Built for aero plane harnesses, they were introduced under the brand name, 'Ty-Rap' and were patented in the same year. However, the only difference at the commencement of manufacturing was that the ratchet was not made of nylon but metal instead. The first cable ties had a steel pawl attached due to which the manufacturing process was more time consuming and therefore comparatively less efficient.

The result was a need to have two separate manufacturing processes, that is first molding the tie and then inserting the metallic pawl to complete a mere single tie. Moreover, the pawl used to be vulnerable to breakage while getting loose in the process, or creating havoc if fell in electrical circuits.

Industrial advance paved way for the production of a finely adjustable, complete nylon cable tie. The attributes it had were self locking and a two component product. Although the new cable tie had an innovative design, fine adjustment quality and reduced installation time, it still had the time consuming two way manufacturing process. However, with the span of time, the cable tie industry witnessed further progress. Hence, a self locking, one piece cable tie was produced. Later on, came the period of modifying the design of cable ties and thus the manufacturing process further enhanced to get the product known as a 'wire bundling device'.

1968 witnessed the time when a cLamp manufacturer acquired the patent for a unique cable wire design. This company was the first to produce a one piece nylon tie in the entire United States of America. Also the manufacturing process was not very time consuming as compared to the initial setup of the past and thus came an era of a wide assortment of applications and colours of cable ties that we see today.

Console Tables - New Ways To Use An Old Favorite

While the traditional use for console tables has been a tabletop with a little extra storage space underneath in the living room of foyer, there are other ways to use them.

Instead of using a console table as a typical table, why not give it a new role as an entertainment center? If you think about it, it has everything you need for an entertainment center - a tabletop where the television will sit, shelving to hold all the extra electronics, and even a drawer for storage.

Component Shelf

Instead of being stuck with an entertainment center, that you may not like the style of, you have now opened a while new field of options for your entertainment center by adding console tables into the mix.
There are admittedly some limitations to console tables, as well as things you need to look for in them to make sure they will do the trick. First measure your television. If you have a flat screen, you only need to measure the width of the set to see if it will fit on the table. If you have a deeper television set, the depth of the tabletop may also come into play.

Console Tables - New Ways To Use An Old Favorite

You should also make sure you are looking at the ones that can handle the weight of the television you are planning to put on top of them. Check the construction of the legs and surface spaces on the tables to see if they can support the items you are going to put on top of them.

Consider the number of electronics add-ons you are going to want to have near your TV. If you have a lot of them you will want to make sure you have enough shelving to hold all the pieces. Again, check the construction of the shelves to make sure they will be able to hold up to the weight of the components you want to put on their tops.

If you are going to wall mount your TV, you have just opened up a whole new world of how your they can be used. In this setup, the table would be put right below the television. On the tabletop could be a DVD player or your stereo components. Underneath you can put the speakers, or extra components that you need a space for. This arrangement should allow you to spread out your components and give them room, which will also keep them from getting too hot, as they can when they are all stacked together.

Finally, don't forget to look at drawers as you consider console tables. There is usually a top drawer just below the tabletop. This is an important space where you can put DVD cases, remotes, TV guides and any other things you need near the television, but don't necessary need to have spread all over the countertop where the TV is. Having the drawer offers a much cleaner and neater look, while not having to give up convenience of having things close at hand.

How To Design a Garage Storage Organization System

Important considerations when designing Garage Organization Systems

Planning is critical when designing garage organization systems. You don't want to just add more storage for garage clutter to continue to accumulate. The goal is to create more effective storage for garage clutter elimination.

Component Shelf

The most important consideration when considering purchasing garage storage products is determining what you intend to store. It doesn't make sense to buy a bunch of garage cabinets if your primary needs are to store tall yard tools and sports equipment, you would be better-suited buying garage storage racks or even specialty sports equipment racks.

How To Design a Garage Storage Organization System

The second most important consideration to determining which garage storage products fit your need is to determine how dynamic of a garage system it is. If your needs change next year, will the solution you choose adapt easily?

The last consideration is style. Your main focus is utility, but you still want it to look good.

Picking your Perfect Garage Solution!

A garage storage organization system that fits all of these considerations perfectly is the Rubbermaid FastTrack. It is a modular garage system that can optionally integrate garage storage racks, garage cabinets, shelves, baskets, hooks and specialized sports equipment racks. A base set of rails are placed on the wall and the various garage storage products, of your choosing, can be placed in any arrangement on those rails.

The best feature of the Rubbermaid FastTrack garage storage organization system is that you are never stuck with your current garage system design. You can rearrange your current selection of garage storage products or add new components whenever you need to, and it only takes seconds to make the change! When it comes to dynamic storage for garage items, the Rubbermaid FastTrack is truly the perfect garage solution.

Sizing Rubbermaid FastTrack Garage Organization Systems

There are two ways to size your custom design of the Rubbermaid FastTracks garage system. The first is to pick all the garage storage products you would like to have and then figure out what length rails you will need and where to place those rails in your garage. The second method is to predetermine where you would like to place the tacks in your garage and then select garage storage racks, shelves, baskets, etc... to fill it in.

Most people use a combination of these ideas. They may start with knowing the maximum length of rail they can accommodate and then par it down if they determine that the accessories they have selected will not fill all of the rails.

The rails come in two sizes 48-inch and 84-inch. Each of the garage storage racks and baskets will probably need a couple of inches of clearance to each side of the length listed in the products description, where as garage cabinets and shelves can butt up right against the next one. The trick comes in with some of the specially sports racks, particularly the bike racks and golf bag rack. These garage storage racks are smaller than the space that the items they store are. The Horizontal bike rack needs enough space to span a bike, but if it is put at the edge of the FastTrack it will take up less of the rail space. The vertical bike may block the a lower rail, this can be taken care of by offsetting the rails by one stud and hanging the bike at the end. Finally the golf bag rack is going to be almost as wide as the rack and two golf bags, since they hang off the sides.

Merchandising Methods

When people hear the term merchandising, many think of window displays or perhaps the mass proliferation of Disney memorabilia. However, merchandising is a much broader concept, encompassing everything a company does to package and present its products or services.

For some businesses, merchandising means creating visual displays that draw customers to a tangible product. For others, such as consulting or law firms, it is the presentations they conduct to show prospective clients what they have to offer. In either case, effective merchandising demonstrates expertise and style and gives both potential and existing customers the chance to see products or services in action.

Merchandising Methods

Many of the merchandising techniques retailers have traditionally used can be adapted for wholesalers, manufacturers and service companies to frame a product. Window displays are the first thing people notice about a company, other than the front of the building, and can be a very Powerful advertising vehicle. In addition to spotLighting specific products, windows can reflect a specific atmosphere, ambiance and business philosophy. Props, an integral component of window displays, can create a theme, add impact, demonstrate usage and allow products to be displayed in a cohesive, well-blended manner. For example, a retailer who sells hand-woven sweaters and shawls might place an authentic weaver's loom in the middle of the sales area as a focal point. Likewise, a store selling dolls could use baby doll furniture as props.

To enhance your own creativity, make a point of visiting the nearest regional shopping mall once a month to look at the display windows and temporary exhibits. Make notes on how props are used by window and store display designers. Signs can also stimulate interest and project a clear identity to the public. Because of their high visibility, however, unless you are a graphic artist, have them produced by a professional sign company. In addition to incorporating a logo or company name to reinforce your identity, think about the sizes of your signs and lettering - this aspect will determine how easy the signs are to read. Three-inch lettering can be read from 70 to 80 feet away; one-inch lettering from 10 to 30 feet. In addition, colors and styles should be coordinated with your decor and overall image. Are your signs bright and stylized, or subdued and unobtrusive? The former may be appropriate for a candy store, while the latter is a better choice for a law firm.

Lighting can be used to both create a certain atmosphere and highLight merchandise. Because lighting fixtures can be expensive, however, determine how essential lighting is to your overall product presentation. For example, retailers selling fine art or intricate items may decide they need spotLights to illuminate their work and help customers appreciate the quality of their craftsmanship or artistry. If your lighting needs are extensive, also consider seeking professional design advice. Once you decide on the necessary fixtures, invest in the best ones you can afford.

Counters and shelves offer an array of merchandising opportunities. For example, "facing" - a technique many retailers use - involves keeping all the stock pulled to the front of the shelves to give the appearance of a full inventory and create a more positive image of the store. Retailers can also set up counters and shelves to guide people through the store or to create special display areas. Of primary importance is that the store layout be reflective of customer needs. For example, people tend to stay longer in bookstores that have nooks that provide an "escape" from pedestrian traffic. On the other hand, customers in a hardware store are likely to prefer straight aisles with clearly labeled products that are within easy reach.

Although manufacturers and service companies often do not have counters and shelves, per se, they still have places where "products" can be displayed. Many businesses underestimate the merchandising opportunities of the waiting room, for example. Are the tables in your reception area covered with old magazines and newspapers, or brochures and newsletters that detail your various services? Has your company won any awards that can be displayed? Anything that educates the customer about your business and what it offers should be incorporated into your merchandising program.

End caps and Power islands are frequently used for special displays. End caps (the end of a shelf or gondola in a store) can promote new products and services, sell higher-profit impulse items, call attention to key areas of the store or feature educational information about products and services. Power islands are attention-getting, free-standing displays that can be used in the same way as end caps. If they are eye-catching and colorful enough, they can also help direct people through the store or to certain areas of it.

Cross-organization, when products from different departments are displayed together, can create an effective merchandising opportunity. The most obvious example of this technique is furniture showrooms. Rather than displaying all the sofas, Lamps and tables in separate areas, successful retailers put them together to create model rooms. Similarly, manufacturers and service firms can group products together in brochures and presentations.

Product demonstrations offer another way to gain attention and show customers what they can do with the product after purchasing it. For example, hand-woven baskets can be filled with fruit, letters, condiments or bath products. Similarly, vases can be filled with flowers, potpourri or colored marbles. Demonstrating how shoppers will benefit from the purchase of a product can also dramatically increase sales. One department store ran a video in the accessory department that demonstrated how to tie silk scarves. Sales increased 50 percent as a result.

The key to merchandising is simplicity and imagination. Entrepreneurs should develop a merchandising plan appropriate to their specific business and re-evaluate it on a regular basis. It is important to keep up with new merchandising ideas and to update your image periodically. For example, the olive-green office furniture that looked good in the 1970s may be less appealing to your 21st century client. Similarly, it's no longer wise to assume that men make the majority of purchase decisions and therefore cater exclusively to masculine sensibilities. While merchandising does involve time and energy, a good program is an integral component of presenting a coordinated and attractive image in the marketplace.

Everyone persuades for a living. There's no way around it. Whether you're a sales professional, an entrepreneur, or even a stay at home parent, if you are unable to convince others to your way of thinking, you will be constantly left behind. Donald Trump said it best, "Study the art of persuasion. Practice it. Develop an understanding of its profound value across all aspects of life."

Conclusion

Persuasion is the missing puzzle piece that will crack the code to dramatically increase your income, improve your relationships, and help you get what you want, when you want, and win friends for life. Ask yourself how much money and income you have lost because of your inability to persuade and influence. Think about it. Sure you've seen some success, but think of the times you couldn't get it done. Has there ever been a time when you did not get your point across? Were you unable to convince someone to do something? Have you reached your full potential? Are you able to motivate yourself and others to achieve more and accomplish their goals? What about your relationships? Imagine being able to overcome objections before they happen, know what your prospect is thinking and feeling, feel more confident in your ability to persuade. Professional success, personal happiness, leadership potential, and income depend on the ability to persuade, influence, and motivate others.
